Rogers Hotel Closed PDF Print E-mail

Due to water damage sustained in the recent thunderstorm, the Rogers Hotel is  temporarily closed. We have learned that a drain pipe on the roof apparently became clogged and caused water to collect on the roof, which then entered the hotel. The depth of the water on the roof was about 18 inches.  As information is made available to us, we will publish it as quickly possible for those wishing more information on historic accomodations in Waxahachie.

rogersNamed for the founder of Waxahachie, Emory W. Rogers, who built his log cabin home in 1847 on this site and donated the land for the Ellis County Courthouse in 1850.

During the early days of the 20th century, several major league baseball teams lodged here for spring training. the Detroit Tigers in 1916-17, the Cincinnati Reds in 1919, Chicago White Sox in 1921 and the Buffalo Bison in 1948-49.  The hotel was used as the bank in the movie "Places in the Heart.  Famous past guests include, Ty Cobb, Bonnie and Clyde, Frank Sinatra plus a host of characters from the old west. more information

Update: We have not been able to reach anyone with the Rogers Hotel and thus do not have any new information on the status of the Hotel. In the meantime, we are receiving many emails and calls from people who had reservations or some other event planned at the Rogers.  Our suggestion is, to call another local hotel for lodging. We do have a Holiday Inn Express which is very nice located on the 287 By-Pass.
